About the role

The Medical Assistant at OCR plays a crucial role in supporting the physician and enhancing the patient experience. With a strong focus on teamwork and quality patient care, this position requires a high level of responsibility and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the physician with patient care, including organizing patient flow and managing charts.
  • Assists in patient exams and procedures, collects patient histories, and schedules follow-up appointments.
  • Cleans and organizes exam rooms after each visit.
  • Maintains supplies in exam rooms and ensures clinics have necessary items for efficient operation.
  • Prepares electronic medical records for upcoming clinics and reviews schedules to prepare for patient visits.
  • Ensures accuracy in entering information in the Electronic Medical Record, including health history, diagnostic reports, diagnoses, orders, consents, medications, etc.
  • Demonstrates competency in various clinical skills such as aseptic and sterile technique, wound and incision dressing, staple and suture removal, and sharps safety.
  • Fulfills clinical guidelines, behavioral standards, and operational expectations set by clinic leadership and policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal training from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent on-the-job training and experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare fields and medical specialties.
  • CPR certification.
  • Core competencies in communication, customer service, teamwork, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to multiple locations.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls up to 8 hours per day.
  • Talk or hear up to 8 hours per day.
  • Stand frequently.
  • Reach with hands and arms frequently.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to 8 hours a day.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Absorb significant distractions while completing work tasks.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours are flexible and depend on the needs of the clinic.
