Responsibilities
- Administer patient care and therapeutic measures as directed by and in assistance to medical provider staff.
- Room and prepare patients for provider visits, including:
- Recording height/weight and vitals
- Performing medication reconciliation
- Verifying allergies and social history/smoking status
- Confirming pharmacy information and preparing refills
- Follow health maintenance and chronic care protocols; enter data into charts and alert providers as appropriate.
- Set up exam rooms and prepare patients for procedures/examinations; chaperone visits as needed.
- Perform pre-visit planning using software tools and chart reviews to anticipate health maintenance, preventive, and chronic care needs; assess and accommodate acute visits.
- Participate in huddles with providers, care managers, and other care team members (e.g., Patient Engagement, PSRs).
- Maintain patient flow by preparing patients for provider visits.
- Assist providers in responding to patient needs related to medications, lab results, procedures, and preventative/health maintenance measures.
- Collect and label lab specimens.
- Provide age- and patient-appropriate screenings (e.g., hearing/vision) and document/report results.
- Monitor and maintain exam room supplies through regular inventories and restocking.
- Complete medical forms, record transfers, lab, and x-ray requisitions when working with a provider.
- Adhere to all organizational infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes in patient medical records according to organizational protocols.
- Actively participate in quality improvement efforts.
- Preload new patient clinical chart information/history, including immunizations, medications, problem lists, and past medical/social/family history.
- Initiate and complete all parts of medication prior-authorization requests based on insurance requirements.
- Maintain accurate and pertinent documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) according to guidelines.
- Perform any other reasonable requests by management.
- Must be available to start at 7 AM.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program preferred.
- One year of experience in a medical office (or related) environment preferred.
Skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Working proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Addresses all patients in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
Pay
$17–$20/hour
