Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Admit patients from the waiting room to the pro-op area
• Absorb patients into proper surgical attire before surgery
• Hook up patient monitors and obtain first set of vital signs and record
• Aid patients during transfers on/off gurney
• Keep PACU supplies well stocked
• Provide pre/post-operative care and instructions
• Aid in surgery by preparing the laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment
• Stock all medication and medical supplies proactively
• Call to request pre/post-ops on surgery patients
• Order all medical supplies
• Keep up with regular and emergency maintenance on medical equipment

Requirements

• Minimum of one-year Medical Assistant experience
• Outpatient surgery experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ophthalmology experience preferred
• Sterile processing/instrument prep experience preferred
