Medical Assistant

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is looking for a Part-Time Medical Assistant to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team. The Medical Assistant will work alongside our Providers and RNs to assist with procedures and keep accurate records in EHR.

Responsibilities

• Educate pre/post-operative patients per Provider's instructions.
• Draw and prepare injections, label as indicated, and record in EHR.
• Assist all Providers with procedures such as casting/splints and removal of sutures/staples.
• Open and prep exam rooms, stock as indicated.
• Clean exam rooms and autoclave instruments between patients.
• Complete medical history and update surgical information accurately on all post-operative patients.
• Prep charts the day before or morning of surgery, including gathering ER notes, op-notes, office notes from other providers, reviewing present chart to assess types of documents needed for the day, what x-rays are indicated, and reading the provider’s previous notes for directions.
• Perform sterile dressing changes.
• Refill medications per provider protocols; direct questions to the specific provider.
• Order tests – X-rays, CT, US, MRI, lab draws per provider’s request.
• Room patients, record vital signs, enter/update medications, verify allergies, and list reactions.

Requirements

• Medical Assistant Certification preferred
• Medical Assistant Registration required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Schedule

• Part-Time: 20 hours per week, 10 hours per shift
• Day shift, two 10-hour shifts per week
• No night shifts or on-call
• Closed all weekends and paid holidays off

Pay

• Registered Medical Assistant: $17.13 - $28.02 per hour
• Certified Medical Assistant: $18.75 - $33.32 per hour
