What We Are Looking For

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant who enjoys a fast-paced environment and works well in a team. Candidates should be customer-friendly and passionate about providing excellent care.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers with exams (including patient vitals), procedures, and other direct patient care tasks under direct supervision.
• Administers medications according to policy and provider direction while adhering to safety protocols.
• Performs blood draws and urine collections as directed by the provider.
• Conducts splinting and casting as needed.
• Performs various types of physicals, such as sports physicals.
• Carries out ear lavages, wound care, and oxygen administration as required.
• Notifies the on-duty provider promptly of any unusual patient occurrences, including medication events, and documents these on incident reports.
• Notifies the Clinic Manager of any patient or employee safety concerns immediately.
• Fulfills laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
• Uses proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Supports the front office by keeping patients informed of wait times, monitoring patient flow, processing discharges, and handling payments.

Essential Education, Experience & Skills

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
• Completed an unapproved (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program and obtained national certification through AAMA, AMT, or NHA.
• At least one year of employment as a Medical Assistant after completing the unapproved program.
• Experience directly supervised by a provider or physician group for at least 2000 hours or one year.
