Responsibilities
- Assists the physician as needed, including rooming clients and documenting in electronic health record.
- Affixes on-site physicals, immunizations, drug screens, and additional testing when scheduled.
- Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures in accordance with established clinical protocols, ensuring patient safety, specimen integrity, and proper labeling, handling, and documentation of all laboratory samples.
- Performs special procedures such as electrocardiograms, TB skin testing, eye distance exams, vital signs, and audiograms.
- Performs urine pregnancy testing, urinalysis, urine drug screens, breathalyzers, and other tests as necessary and as directed by the physician or Medical Office Manager.
- Charts results of all testing, communications, medication, and all relevant information regarding patient care.
- Affixes patient files, charts, and follow-ups on an ongoing basis.
- Plays phone calls to convey physician information for referral, i.e., specialist, verbal orders for prescriptions, pre-authorizations, and related communications.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant certification or 2 years experience in medical or physician’s office
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Computer and EHR experience
