Medical Assistant

Duties

• Manage provider flow
• Room patients
• Collect vital signs and specimens
• Perform point of care testing and screenings
• Collect patient health history and psychosocial circumstances
• Prepare for patient care
• Recognize needed screenings, tests, and treatments
• Place appropriate orders in the patient health record

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program with a successfully completed externship
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program and 6 months’ experience working as a medical assistant
• Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program preferred
• Bi-lingual in Spanish/Khmer/Russian with knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Exceptional attendance and a positive work attitude
• A desire to work as a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team
• Previous medical assisting experience in a community setting with demonstrated attention to detail, preferred
• Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and exam room utilization by maintaining patient flow
• Assure efficient patient visit by assuring all appropriate data, documentation, reports and forms are available to the provider prior to the visit
• Obtain brief history of chief complaint/reason for visit, allergy status and other pertinent information on the appropriate EHR
• Perform all vital signs, necessary screenings, measurements, and point of care testing and record results accurately on the appropriate EHR template
• Prepare patient for examination by the provider, assisting as needed with undressing, gowning, draping, etc. and preparing the necessary equipment/supplies needed for the exam/procedure
