Duties
- Manage provider flow
- Room patients
- Collect vital signs and specimens
- Perform point of care testing and screenings
- Collect patient health history and psychosocial circumstances
- Prepare for patient care
- Recognize needed screenings, tests, and treatments
- Place appropriate orders in the patient health record
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program with a successfully completed externship
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Training program and 6 months’ experience working as a medical assistant
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program preferred
- Bi-lingual in Spanish/Khmer/Russian with knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Exceptional attendance and a positive work attitude
- A desire to work as a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Previous medical assisting experience in a community setting with demonstrated attention to detail, preferred
- Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and exam room utilization by maintaining patient flow
- Assure efficient patient visit by assuring all appropriate data, documentation, reports and forms are available to the provider prior to the visit
- Obtain brief history of chief complaint/reason for visit, allergy status and other pertinent information on the appropriate EHR
- Perform all vital signs, necessary screenings, measurements, and point of care testing and record results accurately on the appropriate EHR template
- Prepare patient for examination by the provider, assisting as needed with undressing, gowning, draping, etc. and preparing the necessary equipment/supplies needed for the exam/procedure
