Medical Assistant

About the role

Lifesteps is a non-profit human services organization serving Western Pennsylvania for nearly 100 years, helping individuals and families with life's changing needs. The agency provides programs and services to help those with special needs live to their fullest potential. This part-time Medical Assistant / Health Educator position works with the Early Head Start Program in Beaver Falls, PA, providing health education to families with young children or expectant families.

Responsibilities

• Provide health education in home‑based or office settings to families with young children and/or expectant families.
• Work closely with Home Visitor staff on case management and provide training as needed.
• Review child health assessments.
• Conduct health and welfare recommendations and referrals.
• Conduct prenatal and post‑natal wellness checks.
• Assure compliance with health components of the Head Start Performance Standards and Head Start Act documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse’s Aide / Nursing Assistant.
• Experience in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health, or health administration may be considered.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license permitting operation of an Agency Vehicle in Pennsylvania.
• Proof of automobile insurance coverage.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Preferred: Medical Assisting (MA, CMA, RMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.

Schedule

• Part‑time schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
• Total of 24 hours worked per week.
• No evenings, weekends, or holidays (other days can be considered if three days per week are worked).
