Responsibilities
- Patient scheduling and check-in
- Documenting individual care interventions, LAI injections, phlebotomy, and client education
- Aiding in dynamic clinic flow and other duties as assigned
- Taking and recording vital signs
- Promptly reporting vital signs, lab results, and/or physical or mental health screening results requiring further attention
- Initiating and completing the Service Excellence Medical Flow Sheet with each appointment scheduled
- Assisting with remote access connections for telehealth visits
- Following up on medication calls and documenting appropriately in the electronic health record
- Maintaining and managing refill requests
- Understanding and implementing trauma-informed care practices
- Encouraging collaboration and maintaining positive relationships within the team
- Explaining and teaching information to fellow team members
- Setting a positive example of appropriate behavior for other team members, interns, and students
- Utilizing company resources such as cell phones, tablets, cars, and other provided materials appropriately
- Maintaining company vehicles in good condition and adhering to confidentiality and privacy standards
- Scheduling and administering long-acting injectable antipsychotics as ordered by prescribers
- Handling cases with prescribers when individuals are non-compliant
Qualifications
- Education and Training: Medical Assistant Certificate from one of the following required: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), NRCMA (NAHP)
- Experience: 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting preferred; experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders strongly preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to complete detailed and concise documentation, write clearly and professionally, think clearly and logically, understand outpatient physical systems and treatment approaches, and have good computer knowledge and the ability to learn new software systems; must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record
