About the role

A Medical Assistant resident with no prior medical assistant experience learns to work as a medical assistant in a clinical setting. Medical Assistant – Residents learn from clinicians, nurses, and medical assistants while on the job and are accountable for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. A Medical Assistant resident will be responsible for communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.

Specialty/Clinic: Family Medicine / Round Valley Clinic
Location: Round Valley Clinic, 750 Round Valley Drive, Park City, UT 84060
Hours and Shifts: 4 ten-hour shifts per week

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the clinician, provide care to patients by assisting the provider to gather information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
• Communicate clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.
• Work with cross-functional teams to collaborate on patient care.
• Attend to detail and follow-through to help provide the care that is needed.
• Participate in training to develop the skills needed to feel competent in providing care for patients.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
• May be required to enroll in a Medical Assistant program within six months of hire and complete within twelve months of enrollment
• Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry
• Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction
• Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical role (EMT, CNA, medic, paramedic)
• Experience in a healthcare setting
• Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require verbal communication as well as hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy; includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment; includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $19.50 – $26.48. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
