Medical Assistant
Responsibilities
- Travel between assigned locations and escorts patients to exam rooms on a timely basis.
- Triage patients for radiologic studies, cast removal, etc.
- Aids physicians during patient examinations.
- Evaluates and provides wound care as necessary.
- Applies and removes splints and casts.
- Processes prescriptions and educates patients about medication side effects.
- Prepares injectable medications and equipment.
- Coordinates referrals for ongoing services.
- Acts as a liaison between patients and other healthcare providers.
- Assists in scheduling appointments for new and established patients.
- Communicates with physicians to secure charts and discuss special needs patient appointments.
- Completes chart notes and attends to correspondence requests.
- Supports clinical chart preparation and ensures necessary data is secured.
- Maintains exam rooms and other areas of the clinic.
- Participates in learning new systems and performs as an informational contact for patients and families.
- Manages and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (CMA) preferred.
- Certifications/Licensure: CMA (AAMA), RMA, CCMA, or NCMA preferred.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Experience in an orthopedic healthcare setting is preferred.
- Good working knowledge of practice management and EHR software, Google products, Microsoft Office, and Windows-based computer applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for professional interactions with physicians, patients, and staff.
- Ability to stand, sit, lift up to 35 lbs., and handle manual and finger dexterity.
Qualifications
This position requires a combination of education, certifications, and experience. A successful candidate should have a background in medical assisting and be proficient in using medical software and office equipment. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Skills
Possesses good working knowledge of practice management and EHR software, Google products, Microsoft Office, and Windows-based computer applications. Excellent verbal and written communication and writing skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients, and staff in all levels in the organization. Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
