Medical Assistant

Qualifications

• Required: HS diploma or GED plus Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program
• Possess valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, MVD report, and reliable transportation
• Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records
• Must obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card and successful completion of a background check

Mental and Emotional

• Mental and emotional requirements include prioritizing workload, decision-making ability, using sound judgment to field inquiries concerning administrative, clinical and operational concerns and ability to greet and deal effectively with participants, families, staff and community members.

Physical

• Long periods of sitting
• Able to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Able to operate phone, Fax, copier, and a computer

Encounter Hazards

• Occasionally hazards such as, but not limited to, bodily fluids and potentially infectious materials

Preferred

• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Sign Language
• Previous front and back-office experience in a primary care setting
