About the role
The Hopscotch Care Team is responsible for delivering high-touch, high-quality care to patients, including coordination of care across different physicians and within the healthcare system. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role on the Care team for Hopscotch to serve our patients, enable patient outcomes and create a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Engage patients prior to their visit to prepare them and set clear expectations
- Anticipate and coordinate needed services (e.g., vaccines, lab work, screenings)
- Prepare exam rooms to ensure they are clean, safe, and ready for each patient
- Room patients efficiently, gather necessary information, and support timely provider flow
- Take vital signs, assess patient needs, and review medications
- Perform phlebotomy and collect lab specimens; complete basic waived lab tests
- Conduct patient screenings per protocol and assist providers during exams
- Deliver care within scope of certification (e.g., vaccine administration)
- Communicate patient needs and updates to the primary care provider and care team
- Support additional diagnostic and care needs in collaboration with the team
- Assist with medication dispensing, as directed and within certification
- Schedule diagnostic tests and follow-up services
- Support Durable Medical Equipment (DME) coordination and applications
- Provide telephonic support to patients, in line with protocols and physician direction
- Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinical operations
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent education (GED)
- Graduated from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience in the healthcare industry, preferably as a Medical Assistant in a hospital, medical clinic or comparable environment OR documented clinical rotation training can be substituted for work experience
- Certification in BLS/CPRE
- Experience with an EMR and similar technology
- Phlebotomy experience
- US work authorization

Pay
- Compensation range for this position is between $20 - $24 per hour depending on clinic location and candidate experience/qualifications
Schedule
- This is a full-time role (M-F 8-5) based at our Brevard location
Additional Information
- The role also requires support maintenance of the clinic, including equipment and facility upkeep including:
- Maintain clinic readiness by stocking exam rooms and ordering supplies
- Perform routine quality control checks, including infection control, equipment QA, and monitoring for expired medications/supplies
