Medical Assistant

Job Description

Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries.

Confirms status of insurance and referral.

Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.

Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting patient history summary.

Safeguards patient information by completing and safeguarding patient information.

• Aid the clinical staff in completing examinations and procedures as instructed.
• Counsel and educate patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions and answering questions, as well as transmitting physicians' orders and questions.

Responsibilities

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

Qualifications

• Adheres to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Travels to satellite locations and floats to other clinics if needed.
