About the role
GI Associates is seeking motivated individuals to join their growing independent gastroenterology practice. Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate patient-centered care that meets individual needs with respect to safety and clear communication.
- Demonstrate an interest in understanding of GI Anatomy and Physiology, Disease Processes and GI related diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Point person for prioritizing STAT, important and normal patient information/clinical results and convey information to the appropriate staff in a timely manner.
- Communicate test results and instructions with patients.
- Manage in scheduling necessary labs, endoscopy procedures, x-rays, or any other ancillary/appointments for patients, with attention to proper insurance location.
- Provide patient education with use of handouts, pamphlets, prep information, etc.
- Obtain any and all patient information (i.e.: demographic, medical, billing) for all patient services.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, mid-levels, triage, ASC staff, co-workers to optimize patient care.
- Manage physician’s schedule and make changes in physician’s schedule to accommodate patient care and facilitate patient flow.
- Gather and submit accurate information regarding hospital rounds when appropriate.
- Assist physician with endoscopy procedure documentation and follow-up for a positive patient experience.
- Work together with the pre-certification team for Requests of scheduled procedures.
- Prepare and room patients in clinic and work with patients on health history.
- Facilitate a harmonious work environment, treating all co-workers with respect and dignity.
- Maintain a safe work and clean working environment by adhering to infection control standards, clinic protocols, and OSHA regulations, ensuring compliance with all health and safety guidelines.
- Complete ongoing training through an approved program for order entry.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Patient-care first approach with strong attention to detail.
- CMA certification preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, co-workers, and outside customers.
- BLS/CPR certification – training available once hired.
- Course completion within 60 days of date of hire.
- Previous Healthcare experience preferred.
- Previous gastroenterology experience preferred, but not required.
- Willingness and ability to travel to other GI Associates locations as needed to support operational needs.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Able to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach and stoop throughout entire shift to accomplish tasks.
- Able to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Able to work through interruptions, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Frequent use of a computer for typing and EMR documentation; requires accurate and efficient data entry abilities.
- Frequent use of the telephone to contact patients for appointment scheduling, follow-up care, test results, and other clinical communications.
