Responsibilities
- Work with providers to room office visit patients: greet patients, take vitals, enter history in the EMR, and update medication lists.
- Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with medical supplies.
- Assist providers with rectal exams and hemorrhoid banding procedures.
- Perform testing such as Fibroscans, bone density, and breath tests.
- Handle prior authorizations for medication and infusion drugs.
- Maintain logs for expiring infusion medication drugs, track patient insurance, and renew as needed.
- Schedule testing and procedures for patients after office visits and from incoming PCP requests.
- Greet and room patients, ensuring appropriate patient flow.
- Update patient medical charts with accurate and timely documentation.
- Manage phone triage and take appropriate action under provider direction.
- Demonstrate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician orders.
- Provide patient education and personal care to address physiological and psychological needs.
- Process prescription refills under provider direction following clinic protocol.
- Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with clinic employees, managers, and providers.
- Follow safety procedures in compliance with OSHA and state health department guidelines.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed.
Spanish and Portuguese speaking is a plus, but not required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2+ years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred but not required.
