Responsibilities

  • Work with providers to room office visit patients: greet patients, take vitals, enter history in the EMR, and update medication lists.
  • Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with medical supplies.
  • Assist providers with rectal exams and hemorrhoid banding procedures.
  • Perform testing such as Fibroscans, bone density, and breath tests.
  • Handle prior authorizations for medication and infusion drugs.
  • Maintain logs for expiring infusion medication drugs, track patient insurance, and renew as needed.
  • Schedule testing and procedures for patients after office visits and from incoming PCP requests.
  • Greet and room patients, ensuring appropriate patient flow.
  • Update patient medical charts with accurate and timely documentation.
  • Manage phone triage and take appropriate action under provider direction.
  • Demonstrate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician orders.
  • Provide patient education and personal care to address physiological and psychological needs.
  • Process prescription refills under provider direction following clinic protocol.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with clinic employees, managers, and providers.
  • Follow safety procedures in compliance with OSHA and state health department guidelines.
  • Perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Spanish and Portuguese speaking is a plus, but not required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred but not required.
