Medical Assistant
About the Role
The Medical Assistant will assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Physician. You will model behaviors of Genuine, Caring, and Friendly, demonstrating effective verbal and written communication while making each customer feel informed, understood, and special. As an effective team player, you will contribute valuable ideas and feedback, meet commitments, and face tasks with energy and passion in the fast-paced Exer environment.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and record information on patients' charts.
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Drape patients with covering and position instruments and equipment.
- Hand instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
- Administer injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
- Key data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
- Assist doctors with charting, chart auditing, CPT, and ICD-9 review.
- Perform venipunctures, EKGs, vital signs, blood draws, and injections.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment, and assist during minor office procedures.
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms, including instrument preparation, sterilization, prescription refills, faxing, and filing.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant experience.
- CPT I certification.
- Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs, and IM injections.
- Ability to work well under pressure and think quickly.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant.
Working Conditions
This is a center-based role requiring work in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate, and there is potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The role involves standing and sitting for extended periods (with some bending and stooping), manual dexterity for clinical tasks, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
