About the Role
Elite DNA Behavioral Health is seeking full-time Medical Assistants for our Tallahassee office. As a Medical Assistant, you will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our healthcare offices. You will play a key role in helping patients feel at ease, explaining physician instructions, and supporting both clinical and administrative functions.
Responsibilities
- Provide services to individuals and coordinate/support psychiatrists, PAs, and APRNs.
- Initiate and complete all relevant documentation within organizational time frames.
- Perform duties in a prioritized, organized, and orderly manner to maximize clinic efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive experience for all clients.
- Follow instructions from providers and management staff.
- Take and record accurate vitals, including blood pressure, height, and weight, while ensuring medication history is up to date.
- Perform genetic testing, educate patients, submit tests, and follow up on results for provider review.
- Welcome clients, escort them to examination rooms, and prepare them for physician visits in a timely and welcoming manner.
- Take medical histories and provide appropriate documentation.
- Assist physicians and nurses with direct client care, including filing, chart documentation, faxes, prescription management, and telephone follow-ups.
- Maintain, copy, and file patient records and other information as needed.
- Monitor and return voicemails within 24 hours, documenting all interactions.
- Triage patient phone calls, document interactions within 24 hours, and discuss concerns with providers.
- Review Athena messages and respond/document accordingly.
- Process medication orders from psychiatrists/APRNs/PAs, phone in prescriptions to pharmacies, and confirm with patients within 24 hours.
- Prepare medication refill requests within 24 hours, verifying pharmacy details, last visit, insurance, and pick-up/mail options.
- Handle prior authorizations within 24 hours of request and document all interactions.
- Update patient charts with medication information and provide education on prescriptions.
- Provide after-hours call line information and document interactions in patient charts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience in healthcare or medical staff services preferred.
- Medical Assisting certification preferred.
Skills
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills for working with individuals and groups.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures.
- Familiarity with medication procedures.
