Responsibilities
- Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to support office operations and patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed health care provider.
- Provide services to individuals and coordinate/support psychiatrists, PAs, and APRNs.
- Initiate and complete all relevant documentation within organizational time frames.
- Perform duties in a prioritized, organized, and orderly manner to maximize clinic efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a complete, appropriate, and positive experience for all clients.
- Take and record vitals, ensuring accurate medication history and removing discontinued medications.
- Perform genetic testing, educate patients, submit tests, and follow up on results for provider review.
- Welcome clients, escort them to examination rooms, and prepare them for the physician in a timely and welcoming manner.
- Conduct medical assessments including blood pressure, height, and weight.
- Take medical histories and provide appropriate and timely documentation.
- Assist physicians and nurses with direct client care, including filing, chart documentation, faxes, prescription management, and telephone follow-ups.
- Maintain, copy, and file patient records and other information as needed.
- Monitor and return voicemails within 24 hours, documenting each interaction.
- Triage patient phone calls, document interactions within 24 hours, and discuss concerns with providers.
- Review Athena messages, respond, and document accordingly within 24 hours.
- Take medication orders from providers, phone them into pharmacies, and confirm with patients within 24 hours.
- Prepare medication refill requests within 24 hours, verifying pharmacy information and insurance details.
- Handle prior authorizations within 24 hours, documenting all interactions with patients and pharmacies.
- Update patient charts with medication and related information.
- Provide guidance and education to patients on prescribed medications, including details on when and where to obtain them.
- Provide after-hours call line information to patients and document interactions in patient charts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- One-year experience in healthcare or medical staff services preferred.
- Medical Assisting certification preferred.
Skills
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Positive interpersonal relationship skills with individuals and groups in various settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Effective use of Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 Coding procedures.
