Position Summary & Duties
Eisner Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pediatric Medical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality clinical and administrative support to pediatric providers while helping deliver exceptional care to infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
- Greet and prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and other pertinent information.
- Accurately document patient information, clinical observations, and services provided in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assist providers during patient examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Administer medications, immunizations, and injections in accordance with provider orders and organizational policies.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, disease management, and follow-up instructions.
- Obtain and review patient consents and ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Clock in and out patients for appointments, schedule appointments, place orders, and facilitate follow-up care.
- Collect, label, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing while ensuring proper handling and transport procedures.
- Maintain exam rooms, medical equipment, supplies, and emergency preparedness materials in accordance with safety and infection control standards.
- Support patient flow by assisting with discharge processes, appointment scheduling, phone calls, and other front- and back-office responsibilities as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement, productivity, compliance, and documentation initiatives to support organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Aid in training and onboarding of new staff members and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, organizational policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Provide compassionate, family-centered care to pediatric patients in a fast-paced community health setting.
- Perform pediatric screenings, including vision (Snellen) and hearing assessments.
- Prepare and administer childhood immunizations in accordance with CDC, AAP, VFC, and California Immunization Registry (CAIR) guidelines.
- Review and interpret immunization records and educate parents regarding vaccine schedules and requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of CHDP requirements and participate in required program trainings.
- Utilize standing orders and clinical protocols to support efficient and effective pediatric patient care.
Basic Qualifications
- Must have completed a Medical Assistant program.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish language skills.
- Valid CPR Certification or willing to complete a course prior to hire.
- At least two years’ experience as a medical assistant in an outpatient clinic preferred.
