Medical Assistant

Job Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and other clinical information
• Aid providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
• Perform venipuncture and blood draws with a high level of proficiency and patient comfort
• Collect, label, process, and prepare laboratory specimens for testing and shipment
• Perform point-of-care testing and other laboratory procedures as directed
• Prepare and administer medications and injections within the scope of training and applicable regulations
• Perform EKGs and other clinical testing as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Aid with patient follow-up, care coordination, and communication as directed by providers
• Maintain appropriate infection control, safety, and OSHA standards
• Provide exceptional customer service and create a positive, welcoming experience for patients
• Assist with clinic events and other patient-focused activities
• Collaborate with providers, Medical Assistants, and administrative staff to maintain efficient clinic operations

Job Qualifications

• 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Strong phlebotomy experience required; advanced venipuncture skills strongly preferred
• Experience confidently drawing blood from a variety of patients and handling difficult draws
• Medical Assistant certification preferred
• Phlebotomy certification preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; medical assisting education preferred
• Fluent in English
• Spanish-speaking preferred
• Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, laboratory specimen handling, and infection control
• Excellent patient-care and communication skills
• Able to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities
• Professional, positive, and compassionate attitude
• Comfortable working in a membership-based primary care environment
• Able to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
