Summary of Job Duties

The Medical Assistant will assist the physician and nurses with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental and organizational tasks) ensuring patient satisfaction. In addition to core Medical Assistant responsibilities, this position serves as a key person for the team regarding day-today workflow issues and office procedures.

Our program brings the region’s experts in geriatric medicine and care together to work as a team in specialized Day Centers, to help older adults enjoy the highest quality of life possible. Our wide range of services are designed to meet the varied needs of seniors, and include medical care, social services, meals, activities, transportation and much more.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician and nurses with various aspects of patient care (including clerical, environmental and organizational tasks)
  • Ensure patient satisfaction
  • Serve as a key person for the team regarding day-today workflow issues and office procedures
  • Assess, plan care for and provide services to frail elders according to assigned responsibilities and Community LIFE standards

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a Medical Assistant program or a national medical assistant certification from a national certifying organization (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA)
  • Two years of experience with patient care in an acute care setting
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties required as a Medical Assistant
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
