Medical Assistant

About the Role
We are looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to support both patients and healthcare providers in delivering compassionate and effective care.
Responsibilities
- Collect and update patient medical history
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
- Assist in assessing patients’ pain levels and documenting relevant information
- Perform triage (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight, and height) at each visit
- Instruct patients on post-procedure care and follow-up appointments
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
- Communicate effectively within the healthcare team
- Coordinate blood thinner medicines for procedures with cardiologist
- Coordinate post-op pain medicines with patient’s surgeon
- Enter and scan all pertinent patient information and notes in EMR software
- Prepare evaluation and procedure rooms for patient encounters
- Clean evaluation and procedure rooms post patient encounters
- Perform patient drug screening
- Prepare patients for pain procedures
- Assist provider with pain procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned, including duties for affiliates or third parties
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to quickly and accurately type notes into EMR as provider dictates
- Strong computer and phone skills
- Ability to navigate multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively while maintaining professionalism
- Advanced knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance policies (e.g., HIPAA)
- Ability to assist in lifting patients from procedure table to wheelchair and from wheelchair to car
- Regular and reliable attendance
- EMR, KASPER, and INSPECT knowledge and experience (preferred)
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant experience (preferred)
- Pain Management experience (preferred)
Physical Requirements
The physical demands of this position include sitting and standing with occasional light to medium lifting. Ability to help lift patients and transport them in a wheelchair from the clinic to the parking lot. An employee must meet these requirements to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
