About the Role

Provides direct patient care under general direction at Clearway Pain Solutions. Responsibilities include entering patient intake and provider orders into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), requesting medical records, utilizing the Pharmacy Database Monitoring Program, recording vital signs and medical history, collecting patient information, and facilitating patient flow. Ensures compliance with measures to maintain consistent patient and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform job in accordance with Company Mission, vision, and goals.
  • Assist patients with medical forms as necessary.
  • Exercise confidentiality in all areas, abiding by HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Accurately complete applicable paperwork; ensure patient medical records are complete.
  • Prepare all forms and requisitions as instructed by the provider.
  • Create and maintain a positive atmosphere of customer service, teamwork, mutual respect, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit, and confirming patient ID.
  • Take and record patient vitals.
  • Properly maintain examination rooms and all other clinical areas.
  • Answer telephones in a professional manner and deliver messages promptly.
  • Return patient calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and improve current skills and knowledge by attending relevant meetings, classes, trainings, and keeping certifications current.
  • Adhere to Infection Control, Safety, and OSHA standards as specified by State and Company standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and comply with, established State, Company, and other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Instruct patients in simple procedures/tests and dispense appropriate educational materials.
  • Relay provider orders to the patient.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain ultrasound machine, as appropriate.
  • Draw up injections to be administered.
  • Verify that radiological and laboratory records are received and in the patient chart; obtain records if missing.
  • Fit patients for durable medical equipment (DME) and complete all applicable paperwork.
  • Obtain prior-authorizations for radiology and/or prescriptions, as needed.
  • Keep rooms clean and stocked with supplies.
  • Maintain stock of medicines and supplies; advise Office Manager when replacements are needed.
  • Sterilize and clean instruments used in examinations and/or procedures; maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Monitor personal and provider staff task buckets in the EMR.
  • Under the direction of the physician, assist with providing Workers Compensation medication.
  • Label specimens accurately and distribute them to appropriate personnel to ensure specimen integrity.
  • Process specimens and prepare them for shipping.
  • Maintain lab area with ample supplies and in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow test requirements of the laboratory and procure unaltered urine specimens for testing.
  • Participate in and complete all required trainings and in-services.
  • Act as a back-up for Ancillary Medical Assistants, performing their duties as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, co-workers, and the public.
  • Ability to work individually as well as within a team.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Working knowledge of the healthcare field, medical specialty, and medical terminology.

  • Reliable transportation; travel may be required up to 100%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or EMS training program, with current Nurse Aide certification, Medical Assistant certification, or EMS Licensure.
  • One year of prior experience working in a medical practice.
  • One year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Pay

Pay Range: $17.50/hr - $20.00/hr. This position is non-exempt (hourly) and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable law. Overtime is not guaranteed.
