Responsibilities

• Discuss symptoms with patients
• Gather and input information into the electronic medical records system
• Take vital signs
• Administer injections
• Perform diagnostic tests
• Collect specimens
• Draw blood
• Sterilize and clean equipment
• Maintain examination rooms
• Collaborate closely with physicians and nurses
• Deliver direct patient care based on active certification
• Interpret area/department policies and methods for completing assignments
• Work within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, with some latitude over prioritization and timing
• Follow standard policies and practices while allowing for interpretation, deviation, and independent discretion

Requirements

• Active Medical Assistant Certificate or Diploma
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Proficiency with MS Outlook and basic computer knowledge
• CPR certification
• Previous phlebotomy experience
• Willingness to learn and be cross-trained in other roles based on business needs
• This role is patient-facing and part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program; selected candidates will be required to undergo TB screening

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Experience with HEDIS
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) – must be able to speak, read, and write in both languages without limitations or assistance
• Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from one of the following:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • National Healthcareer Association
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants
  • National Association for Health Professionals
  • American Medical Technologists
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience as a Medical Assistant in ‘back-office’ direct patient care
• Previous experience in a geriatric setting

Pay

The pay range for this full-time (40 hours per week) role is $43,000 - $56,200 per year. The range may vary based on geographic location, and individual pay will depend on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, and certifications. This role is eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
