About The Job

The Medical Assistant will interview patients and document their medical history. They will update and file medical records and insurance reports, arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services, check with patients, type up patients' charts, participate in patient and family education, assist during medical examinations, produce and distribute correspondence, handle receivable and payable accounts, prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments, provide patient-centric service, and assist in addressing patient concerns.

  • Prepare charts for Cardiologist - reason for visit, patient medication reconciliation, current pharmacy information, lab test results, imaging testing results, and other pertinent medical information.
  • Execute intake checklist in AthenaHealth EMR.
  • Perform in-clinic testing and imaging.
  • Manage all aspects of patient prescription needs, including placing orders, coordinating care with pharmacies, answering patient questions, and managing renewal requests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in a healthcare office.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), clinical, and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong work ethic and reliability (attendance and punctuality).
  • The ability to create and sustain meaningful patient experiences.
  • The ability to quickly resolve issues and think outside the box.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • The ability to efficiently communicate with patients and providers using appropriate language.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant in good standing.
  • Knowledge and use of EHRs (Athena experience is a plus!).
  • Preceptorship of 400+ clinical hours in Cardiology.
  • BLS or ACLS certification required.

Work Location

You will work out of the Hinsdale, IL office.

Additional Information

Full-time rate starting at $20 per hour plus medical, dental, and vision benefits. Commensurate with experience.
