Job Description

Beacon has an excellent opportunity available within our clinic as a Medical Assistant - Rheumatology Experience (Full-time/Part-time).

  • Rooming patients, collecting vital signs, specimens, administers shots, and carries out orders (i.e., labs, biopsies, referrals)
  • Affords assistance with patient intake forms, including social and family history, medication list, review of systems and preventative measures.
  • Prepares patient charts and reviews imaging, labs, pathology, and other reports to ensure all patient records are current.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments with patients, prior-authorization procedures, and hospital admissions.
  • Returns phone calls within 24 to 48 hours of receipt.
  • Maintains patient progress and evaluates follow up actions required to meet the patients’ needs by providing quality care throughout the patient experience.
  • Evaluates documents and distributes applicable clinical correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Completes phlebotomy, routine or specialty blood draws, handling of applicable specimen processing and quality controls.
  • Performs EKG’s testing per provider orders.
  • Performs medical refill requests and helps triage patient calls along with managing patient referrals to hospitals or other ambulatory facilities.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients.
  • Affords assistance with patient exams and procedures as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Compassionate and caring bedside manner.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Manages conflict with good resolutions.
  • Able to multi-task and anticipate needs of providers.
  • Proficient in EKG, venipuncture, and managing lab work and genetic testing a plus.

Education

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A CMA certificate or equivalent experience and willingness to earn CMA certification required.
  • Three years of experience as a medical assistant or related role preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification, required upon hire.
  • Rheumatology Experience Preferred.

Pay

Starting at $22/hour and up DOE.
