Job Description
Beacon has an excellent opportunity available within our clinic as a Medical Assistant - Rheumatology Experience (Full-time/Part-time).
- Rooming patients, collecting vital signs, specimens, administers shots, and carries out orders (i.e., labs, biopsies, referrals)
- Affords assistance with patient intake forms, including social and family history, medication list, review of systems and preventative measures.
- Prepares patient charts and reviews imaging, labs, pathology, and other reports to ensure all patient records are current.
- Schedules follow-up appointments with patients, prior-authorization procedures, and hospital admissions.
- Returns phone calls within 24 to 48 hours of receipt.
- Maintains patient progress and evaluates follow up actions required to meet the patients’ needs by providing quality care throughout the patient experience.
- Evaluates documents and distributes applicable clinical correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Completes phlebotomy, routine or specialty blood draws, handling of applicable specimen processing and quality controls.
- Performs EKG’s testing per provider orders.
- Performs medical refill requests and helps triage patient calls along with managing patient referrals to hospitals or other ambulatory facilities.
- Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patients.
- Affords assistance with patient exams and procedures as needed.

- Proficient in EKG, venipuncture, and managing lab work and genetic testing a plus.
Education
- A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- A CMA certificate or equivalent experience and willingness to earn CMA certification required.
- Three years of experience as a medical assistant or related role preferred.
- CPR/BLS certification, required upon hire.
- Rheumatology Experience Preferred.

Pay
Starting at $22/hour and up DOE.
