Medical Assistant
About the role
Banner Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This position assists clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care and implements and evaluates direct patient care.
Responsibilities
- Takes and records vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements
- Documents pain scores as appropriate
- Aids in exams and minor in-office procedures
- Acts as a chaperone as needed
- Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions and personal protective equipment
- Prioritizes patient flow through clinical processes
- Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling
- Communicates test results to patients
- Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation
- Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas
- Orders supplies as directed, stocks patient care areas
- Manages medication ordering and tasks related to all medications
- Develops and maintains effective communication mechanisms with all external and internal customers
- Works under the direct supervision of providers and interacts with various departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations
- Active Medical Assistant Certification
- BLS certification required
- Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software preferred

Pay

Schedule
This position works Monday-Friday, typically 8am-5pm, with the possibility to work 1/2 days. Flexible schedules are available.
