About the role
Ascension Saint Thomas Urgent Care is looking for experienced Medical Assistants to join our team in Mt. Juliet, TN. The Medical Assistant provides clinical care to patients in urgent care, occupational health, and workers’ compensation settings. Responsibilities include initial evaluations, x-ray testing, and preparing patients for provider evaluation by recording histories, vital signs, and documentation while recognizing acuity levels for appropriate intervention. Ascension Saint Thomas Urgent Care operates 18 locations in Tennessee and is an affiliate of Urgent Team, which operates over 80 locations under eight brands. The centers are open seven days a week: Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m.–5 p.m., and are Accredited Care Centers by the Urgent Care Association.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients promptly and provide clear communication about next steps and wait times
- Offer solutions to patient concerns and seek help in emergent or hazardous situations
- Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results; execute follow-up calls with urgency
- Support front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures when needed
- Accurately document vital signs, histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent details
- Assist with patient transfers, procedures, and lab work under provider supervision
- Prepare and shoot X-Rays, ensuring proper positioning, safety, radiation protection, and shielding
- Complete all required visit documentation and maintain stocked, clean exam rooms
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient confidentiality standards
- Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained
