Perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Ensure supplies and equipment are available to facilitate efficient, effective care. Display a friendly, caring, courteous, and professional attitude.
- Recording patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
- Interviewing patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
- Accompanying patients to the appropriate exam room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, and preparing them for the physician.
- Assisting and Caring for Others — providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
- Documenting/Recording Information — entering, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form.
- Getting Information — observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
- Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, Patients, and Physicians — providing accurate messages/instructions by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Interacting with Computers — using computers and electronic medical records to enter data, or process information.
- Cleaning according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records; managing inventory of supplies; assisting with the ordering of patient care supplies, restocking treatment rooms, exam rooms, and procedure room.
- Making sure prescriptions are sent as eRX and refills are requested.
- Preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations, setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
- Filling out lab requisitions for pathology and calling for pick-up at the lab where patients' insurance is accepted.
- Sending orders for labs, imaging, referrals, or medications to appropriate facilities when ordered by the provider.
- Calling and scheduling for the patient, when providers order STAT requests: before they leave our office.
- Calling insurance to request prior authorization as necessary.
- Making sure biohazard and sharps are monitored and tracked daily according to OSHA.
- Restocking, managing, and checking expiration dates for all supplies in rooms and storage room.
- Answering clinical phone calls. Checking phone messages hourly and returning all calls before lunch, midafternoon, and prior to leaving for the day.
- Complying with all AZCCC policies and procedures.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
- Working shifts as assigned. Scheduled shifts/locations will rotate according to clinic needs.
- Performing other duties as directed by providers and practice administrator.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of a medical assistant program is preferred.
- Computer experience with EMR knowledge is beneficial.
- Professional appearance is expected.
- Must have strong medical terminology.
- Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills.
- Must have an excellent work ethic, including integrity, positive attitude, productivity, organization, treating leadership with respect, excellent attendance, continuous learning, and willingness to ask for assistance.
- Must have the ability to work efficiently and effectively in a detail-oriented, fast-paced setting.
