About the role
Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates, P.C. (AARA), recently named an Arizona Top Workplace, is the largest private Rheumatology practice in the United States. With over 60 providers, 15 sites, and 300 employees, we provide assessment and treatments for rheumatological and podiatric patients. Our providers are recognized for excellence in medicine and for pioneering new treatments, supported by our Research department. We are seeking an ambitious, friendly, positive, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. This role involves cross-training for both front and back-office duties, requiring flexibility, multitasking, and great attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and assist them with registration according to established protocols.
- Help patients complete necessary forms and documentation, including medical insurance details.
- Ensure patient information is accurate, including billing information.
- Answer incoming calls and handle inquiries.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Collect co-pays and payments.
- Obtain external medical reports as required by medical professionals.
- Respond and comply with requests for information.
- Complete other clerical duties as assigned.
- Ensure the reception area is well-maintained, neat, and clean.
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist with charting and recording infusion vitals/administration.
- Obtain vitals on patients prior to, during, and at discontinuation of infusion.
- Draw labs if needed.
- Perform verbal pre-infusion questionnaire with patients.
- Assist with removal/discontinuation of IVs.
- Maintain a sterile environment at all times.
- Maintain drug inventory and medical supply stock.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A high-level dedication to excellent patient care, office teamwork, detail, and accuracy.
- Good oral and written communication skills, computer skills, flexibility, dependability, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical office environment.
- A Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited facility.
Qualifications
- Desirable: Bilingual in Spanish.
- Desirable: Working knowledge of phlebotomy.
- Preferred: IV experience.
- Desirable: General clerical knowledge.
