Job Description
Aid physicians with medical procedures in the office setting. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Performing quality control procedures before patient testing.
- Carrying out laboratory blood work and blood draws.
- Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
- Maintaining test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to regulatory agencies.
- Preparing blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation, sending lab reports to appropriate facilities, and documenting in the Onco/EMR system.
- Assisting with medical procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
- Documenting thorough encounters in the medical record and preparing encounter forms for billing.
- Obtaining vital signs, height, weight, pain levels, and conducting PHQ9 depression screenings.
- Prepping exam rooms and preparing for physicians, receiving lab reports, and maintaining inventory of supplies.
- Initiating troubleshooting procedures for instrument malfunctions and contacting service companies when necessary.
- Performing EKG testing and other duties to maintain laboratory compliance.
- Maintaining confidentiality of patient information and adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Training new employees on related job duties and working at multiple AON locations as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certification required.
- Valid driver’s license for travel to other clinic locations.
- One year experience as a medical assistant in clinic or physician’s office with venipuncture ability.

Education & Certifications
