Job Summary
AllerVie Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical care teams by gathering patient medical histories, reconciling medications, and updating electronic medical records. This role requires familiarity with allergy and immunology practices, procedures, and medications.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates appropriate technique for obtaining vital signs including Ht/Wt, BP, Pulse, RR, Temp, and O2 saturation.
- Performs spirometry and Niox testing on patients with appropriate technique and patient coaching.
- Shows competency and knowledge of general allergy practice, procedures, and medications.
- Understands the process of testing, diagnosis, treatment, and immunotherapy.
- Keeps exam rooms well stocked and clean.
- Communicates effectively and promptly with the Department Lead or appropriate members of the management team for clinical, supply, HR, facilities, or billing matters.
- Displays professionalism in patient/parent interactions, adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Provides anticipatory guidance to patients during triage.
- Documents activities in the EMR system.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- Previous experience working with patients in a medical setting.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program and Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Understanding of basic medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of EMR system.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
