Medical Assistant Apprentice

About the role

The Medical Assistant Apprentice at Virginia Mason Medical Center will play a crucial role in preparing patients for examinations, measuring vital signs, providing administrative assistance, and collaborating closely with physicians and nurses. This role also includes completing on-the-job apprenticeship training, which upon successful completion, leads to certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Measure vital signs.
• Provide administrative assistance.
• Work closely with physicians and nurses.
• Complete on-the-job apprenticeship training.
• Sit for the CCMA MA-C exam upon successful completion of the program.

Requirements

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Proficiency in using computer programs and equipment in a clinic setting.
• Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
• 6 months of Virginia Mason Health (VMFH) work experience and a recommendation from their leader.
• External candidates must have either 6 months of healthcare experience OR completion of a healthcare program approved by the WA Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission such as a CNA program, OR Running Start with 4 healthcare-related classes.

Pay

The posted compensation range is $22.50 - $28.12 per hour.

Schedule

Variable hours Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
