Medical Assistant - Allergy/Infectious Diseases - Full-Time

About the role

Full-time position (0.9 FTE) with a schedule of 36 weekly hours on days at the Burnet Campus in the Department of Ambulatory Services – Endocrinology.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide competent technical and clinical services; assist care providers with procedures and physical exams; prepare patients for examination and treatment; deliver care consistent with family-centered care and medical home models; offer flexible, culturally competent care responsive to patient and family needs; treat families as full partners in decision-making.
• Customer Service: Act as a customer advocate; meet patient and family needs with courtesy and attentiveness; respond quickly to requests and concerns; provide appropriate education and information.
• Collaboration: Work cooperatively with peers and colleagues; follow complex direction to resolve problems; develop positive working relationships; share knowledge and support team members; contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
• Data Management: Manage records per department policy; assist with data collection for forms; obtain consent and release of information forms when indicated; maintain accurate patient files and records; adhere to established documentation practices with detailed data entry.
• Laboratory Work and Testing: Manage specimens per protocols; maintain knowledge of routine testing processes; retrieve test results; communicate normal lab results as appropriately delegated. Perform delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a nurse or licensed physician.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a program in Medical Assisting with no directly related experience, OR completion of a formal medical services training program of the US armed forces, OR 1 year of work experience in a related job discipline.
