Responsibilities
- Effectively works in collaboration with providers and clinical /clerical staff to provide direct/indirect care to patients and families.
- Prepares patient for visit. Includes, but is not limited to: height and weight, history intake, vital signs, pulse oximetry, and documents findings.
- Maintains patient records effectively. Updates and maintains census records and provides those records to designated recipient when requested.
- Assists staff in the collection of quality, utilization, and satisfaction data.
- Participates in quality assurance monitoring of service, patient care and operational efficiency indicators, and follows up with appropriate interventions and problem solving as indicated in documentation review and by feedback from the health care team.
- Ensures providers submit timely and accurate billing.
- Provides administrative and clerical coverage for reception area as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a medical assistant (MA), certified nursing assistant (CNA), emergency medical technician (EMT), ambulatory care associate (ACA), patient care associate/technician (PCA/PCT), paramedic, or phlebotomist required.
- New graduates from an accredited medical assistant certificate program, with less than one (1) year of experience, will be considered.
- Certification/registration (CCMA/CMA/AAMA/RMA) preferred.
- Certification/registration may be accepted in lieu of graduation from an accredited MA school.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
