Responsibilities
- Prepare for patient appointments by reviewing and updating medical records.
- Obtain and record vital signs and chief complaints following intake protocol.
- Aid with exams, procedures, specimen collection, and immunizations.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection control, and safety standards.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and exam rooms as required.
- Perform outreach, discharge education, and coordination of care.
- Participate in quality improvement and performance measures (e.g., UDS reporting).
- Demonstrate a commitment to conducting business honestly, ethically, and consistently with Valle del Sol’s values, emotional quotients, policies, and procedures.
- Promote and support a culture of employee engagement and total safety.
- Ensure duties are performed in compliance with all company and regulatory obligations; follow procedures and processes as directed by leadership.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Graduation from an approved medical assistant training program or valid certification (e.g., CCMA, RMA, CMA).
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to be credentialed and privileged for the role.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
- Meet immunization and TB screening requirements.
- Possess or obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Able to pass pre- and continued employment screenings successfully.
Skills and Abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to provide culturally sensitive services and support diverse populations.
- Strong proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Compliance with relevant training, licensure, and/or certifications for this role.
