Medical Assistant (31575)

Responsibilities

• Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, such as checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting with patient care activities, and charting.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities, including sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/X-ray reports, completing forms/requisitions, scheduling appointments, and managing patient charts.
• Fulfills organizational responsibilities, such as respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and sharing problems with supervisors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED, medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or college course in medical assisting.
• Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.

Requirements

• Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.
• Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.
• Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
• Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
• Skill in written and verbal communications.
• Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
• Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures.
• Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
