The Center accomplishes this mission through collaborative, innovative programs, services and referral resources that meet the economic needs of the entire community.FULL TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:21 Days of Paid Time Off10 Observed HolidaysMedical Insurance (Entire deductible paid by us!)30 Chiropractor and Acupuncture visits per year included with enrollment in our health insurance plans (Kaiser and WHA)Dental InsuranceVision InsuranceGym Membership Discounts at Active Wellness Center and 24-Hour Fitness!401K Matching after 1 year of employmentFlexible Spending Account, Dependent Care FSALife Insurance (included at no cost to the employee)Long Term Disability (included at no cost to the employee)Employee Assistance Program (included at no cost to the employee)Summary: The Medical Assistant 3 ensures optimum patient care through the efficient rooming of patients, exhibiting excellent communication with patients and other staff, performing medical procedures, providing patient education, follow-up care instructions, completing daily documentation, and training or supervising of other staff.Areas of Responsibility:Patient Care:Independently functions, under supervision, in three or more of the MA roles including the Flow Coordinator, the support role for the Flow Coordinator, and MA trainerBuilds relationships with patients, staff and providers to ensure excellent customer serviceManages patient concerns or incidentsRooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs including height, weight, BMI, temperature, respirations and blood pressureCollects and documents patient history and current state of healthPrepares treatment rooms, equipment and supplies in a timely manner to ensure optimum flowProvides patient education and follow-up care instructionsPerforms panel management and non-visit tasks as assigned by provider or nurseProvides advanced Medical Assistant services to obstetric patients, if trained to do soAdequately performs the role of a lead Medical Assistant at the School Base Health Centers and Mary Isaak Center, if trained to do so o Oversees the School-Based Health Center and coordinates a team of medical assistants, acts as liaison with school staff and community advisory council. o Front and Back Office duties and responsibilities including inventory, stocking supplies, and checking on all equipment o Outreach to community regarding PHC’s services offeredCommunication:Builds relationships with patients, staff and providers to ensure excellent customer serviceCommunicates clearly with providers, other staff and patients to promote optimum clinic flowExcellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levelsRecommends improvement in processes and practices through the proper channelsTakes accurate messages and responds in a timely mannerFunctions independently as the Flow Coordinator to ensure optimum patient flowCommunicates with Team Manager on the status of the team and any urgent issues that ariseMedical Procedures:Follows PHC policies and procedures in accordance with the Medical Assistant III positionPerforms routine screening procedures, such as hearing and vision tests, and documents findingsPerforms various medical assistant procedures, including but not limited to: finger sticks for hemoglobin checks; ear washes; nebulizer treatments; urine dipsticks; specimen collection for throat and/or urine cultures; wound cleaning; PPD placement; INR; glucose; HCG; and Hemoglobin A1CAdministers immunizations and documents accurately in the electronic health record & CAIRDocumentation:Practices standard safety precautions, to ensure safety to self, other staff and patients including handling of contained waste, sharps and cleaning the Ultrasound machine and EKG MachineEnsure all logs, forms, records and charts are complete, thorough and accurateDocuments freezer and refrigerator temperature and takes appropriate corrective action as neededMaintenance and management of inventory and expiration dates, as requested by MA Supervisor or ManagerTraining & Supervision:Active participant in team meetings. Participates in development or review of content and may present training topics occasionally to the team.Trains Medical assistants on patient care procedures, clinical practice updates, policies, procedures and the different roles on the teamEducation/Experience:Satisfactory completion of an accredited medical assistant program in California, or documented equivalent training in a physician’s office (at minimum, training must conform to the state’s program of California Medical Assistant Regulations BPC 1366.1-1366.4)Minimum two years of Medical Assistant experienceLicenses and Certifications:Completed Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited organization/school is requiredState MA Certification must be current and competency maintainedInjection certifications and/or competencyMust have current BLS certificationCandidate must be able to successfully meet and maintain PHC’s credentialing and privileging requirementsLanguage Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish with children and adults in person, on the telephone, and in writing. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and request from patients, co-workers, and others as necessary.
