Medical Assistant 2 (contract)

About the role

The Medical Assistant 2 is the first point of contact for patient care. This role involves both administrative duties and direct patient care. The responsibilities include discussions with patients, gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system, taking vital signs, giving injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms.

Responsibilities

• Discussing symptoms and gathering information for the electronic medical records system.
• Taking vital signs and performing diagnostic tests.
• Collecting specimens and drawing blood.
• Sterilizing and cleaning equipment.
• Maintaining examination rooms.
• Collaborating closely with Physicians and Nurses.
• Delivering direct patient care dependent on active certification.
• Performing computations.

Requirements

• 1 - 3 years of Medical Assistant experience in 'back-office' direct patient care.
• Applicable State licensure in field of study (RMA/ CMA).
• Current CPR certification.
• Less than 2 years of Professional leadership experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Bilingual.
• Hands-on professional Phlebotomy experience.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
• Experience with HEDIS.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Registration from AAMA, NHA, ARMA, NAHP, AMT, or AART.
• Phlebotomy experience.
• Medication/vaccine administration experience.
• 1+ years MA experience.
• Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication.
