Medical Assistant 2

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Orthopaedic Institute Practice Supervisor and Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the clinical staff and the physician leadership, the Hospital Assistant 2 assists in the delivery of care to patients in an ambulatory multi-specialty group practice. Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing procedures, including assuring positive care outcomes. They will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the primary and specialty care services provided to patients within the practice. Exemplary customer service is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of care to patients in an ambulatory multi-specialty group practice.
• Perform a variety of personal care and nursing procedures, ensuring positive care outcomes.
• Perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of primary and specialty care services.
• Adhere to Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center.

Requirements

• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
• Ability to work in a busy, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population.
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Willingness to learn new tasks.
• Ability to organize and effectively set priorities.
• Knowledge of medical terminology appropriate to the responsibilities of the job.
• High School Diploma or GED certificate.
• Prior experience in a medical office environment.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting program.
• Preferred: Cast Technician experience (if not, formal training will be provided if needed).
• Required: Certified Medical Assistant.

Pay

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Placement within the salary range is dependent on factors including work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
