Media Services Technician
About the role
The Media Services Technician is responsible for assisting the Media Services Manager and Lead Media Services Technician in the installation of classroom audiovisual and instructional technology equipment and coordination/delivery of audiovisual services to UIW classrooms as requested by faculty or other staff. Execution of duties requires strict adherence to customer service standards. The position reports to Media Services Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation of classroom audiovisual and instructional technology equipment
- Coordinate and deliver audiovisual services to UIW classrooms as requested by faculty or other staff
- Supervise and train student workers
- Organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
- Troubleshoot and repair audiovisual equipment
- Work effectively as an individual, team leader, or team member
- Work with minimal supervision and pivot with minimal notice to meet customer needs and deadlines
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of related professional experience working with audiovisual technologies, or technical coursework in audiovisual technologies or related field
- Valid driver's license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and at least 21 years of age
Qualifications
- Familiarity with AMX, Biamp, Crestron and Extron
- Experience working with wired and wireless networks
- Experience working in an academic institution
- Some college with IT coursework
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong general management skills
- Strong knowledge of audiovisual and instructional technology equipment installation
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Windows OS
- Ability to read drawings and schematics
- Ability to competently and safely use hand and power tools
Work Environment
Hours are semester based and subject to change: Fall/spring - 9:30 am-6:30 pm, Summer – 8am to 5pm. Ability to work some weekends based on needs of the department. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 40 lbs of equipment and repair gear, reach, stoop, climb ladders, and crouch in small areas to access equipment and make basic repairs.
Pay
Salary: $45,000 Annualized
Schedule
Full Time, with ability to work some weekends based on needs of the department.
