About the role
Under general supervision, the Media Relations Technical Specialist provides the highest level of technical service for motorcycle and media relations equipment set-up, maintenance, and reconditioning. This role involves interacting with press or media by conducting presentations, providing product information, and answering questions.
Responsibilities
- Ensure motorcycles are ready and prepared to KTM/Husqvarna/GasGas/MV Agusta standards for media tests or events, including uncrating/crating, technical preparation, general maintenance, service work, and reconditioning for resale.
- Assist the Media Manager in conducting presentations and delivering product information to press or media outlets, including interacting with media at events and races, addressing requests, and providing technical services for testers.
- Represent the company externally as a positive role model for the brand.
- Review and study all product marketing information to become a product expert and intelligently answer media questions.
- Provide event support to the Marketing Department as needed.
- Maintain work areas, tools, and test equipment in a clean and calibrated state.
- Assist in maintaining parts inventory to ensure complete service capability.
- Prepare reports for motorcycle preparation, servicing, repairs, warranties, and reconditioning, and record problems or issues.
- Complete new product technical training required for service and product needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in motorcycle service or equivalent training certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid motorcycle license required.
- High school diploma required; advanced degree or technical-related education preferred.
- Ability to learn and operate KTM/Husqvarna/GasGas technical diagnostic tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and skills.
- Knowledge of the motorcycle industry, technologies, regulations, and performance issues.
- Knowledge of company product performance and servicing technologies.
- Valid vehicle operator license and motorcycle license.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to switch tasks as needed and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and escalate issues when necessary.
- Basic math skills and strong interpersonal skills with a focus on internal and external customers.
- Analytical abilities and self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle proficiently and follow company riding policies.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds (5% daily).
- Able to sit at a desk and use/view a computer (5% daily).
- Able to hear and speak into a telephone (5% daily).
- Able to walk, stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and twist (90% daily).
- Able to drive and/or fly long distances (1% daily).
- Able to drive a motorcycle (<10% daily).
Work Environment
- Moderate to loud noise levels.
- Hectic, fast-paced environment with multi-level distractions.
- Professional yet casual work environment.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
- Travel is approximately 30% of the time.
