Media Relations Intern
About the role
Champion, an award-winning PR & Digital Media agency, is seeking a part-time Media Relations Intern to join our Dallas office. The ideal candidate will gain hands-on experience developing media materials, building targeted media lists, pitching stories and securing media coverage for a diverse portfolio of clients while working alongside our media relations team in a collaborative, fast-paced agency environment.

Responsibilities
- Draft and edit press releases, media alerts, blogs and other PR materials using AP Style for various clients across different industries.
- Build, maintain and update media lists tailored to clients’ target markets, including local consumer, business, trade and national media outlets.
- Conduct outreach on client campaigns and distribute press releases to media contacts via email and Muck Rack, ensuring timely and effective communication.
- Pitch story ideas to journalists, build relationships with media members and secure positive media coverage for clients.
- Monitor media outlets for industry trends, client mentions and opportunities for coverage.
- Develop and pitch TV and radio segments, especially morning shows, in various markets to maximize client exposure.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is a current senior working toward a degree or recently received their college degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related discipline
- A team player who is also comfortable working with limited supervision
- One year of experience with proven success in securing media placements in the food/beverage or lifestyle space is a bonus
- Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Energetic, organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated
Schedule
Part-time, non-exempt hourly position, 28 hours per week, with a hybrid role in the office Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Applicants must reside in the DFW area and be able to commute to our Dallas office.
