About the role
We’re looking for a Media Producer to work closely with our video/creative team, policy, political, and communications teams to pitch, conceptualize, research, script, and host news-driven YouTube videos with the mission to change policy in our country. In addition to producing video content, the Media Producer will handle breaking news, follow-up reporting, and draft social media updates on the stories they cover.
Responsibilities
- Develop video concepts, identify on-camera talent, conduct interviews, write scripts, and provide feedback to editors.
- Serve as on-camera talent, delivering narration for desk reads and/or on-location shoots.
- Pitch a variety of story and coverage ideas weekly to enhance our news and advocacy programs.
- Conduct basic reporting (seeking public comment, interviews, FOIA requests) to advance stories.
- Monitor news, hearings, and press conferences for newsworthy moments relevant to our core issues.
- Write scripts, articles, tweets, and other social media content to accompany news or clips.
- Collaborate with the video team to draft scripts, interview subjects, and push creative boundaries.
- Stay updated on current social platforms and best practices.
- Proactively identify inefficiencies and work with the team to implement solutions.
- Meet publishing schedules and deadlines for assignments from supervisors and colleagues.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced, nimble environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in journalism or advocacy.
- Producing, reporting, or research experience required.
- Ability to script and produce videos.
- Strong project management skills, clear writing, and ability to meet hard deadlines.
- Passion for economic justice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of organization and self-motivation.
Pay
$85,000 USD per year (Remote, United States).
