About the role

Under the general oversight of the Communications Supervisor, this position coordinates communications for CCRC’s service area. The Specialist is responsible for the development and distribution of press releases, newsletters, fact sheets, brochures, web and social media campaigns, and other marketing materials. This position collaborates closely with Communications team members, CCRC staff across departments and locations, and with external partners supporting agency priorities, projects and events.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media or a related field
  • 2+ years professional experience preferred in communications, public relations or related field with a history of content generation
  • Demonstrated computer skills to include knowledge of online research, website analytics and social media, advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, and database management experience
  • Up to 20% travel to and from agency locations, community events, internal and external meetings or events for coordination and agency representation
  • Ability to work a non-traditional work schedule including early mornings, late evenings and weekends

Staff members driving on behalf of CCRC may choose to drive a CCRC vehicle or own vehicle and must meet requirements to be an approved driver including holding and maintaining current auto insurance, current California Driver’s License and DMV clearance required.

Background & Health Clearance Requirements

  • Background check required, including criminal history, employment history/experience, education, and reference checks
  • Live Scan Clearance / DOJ Fingerprinting for positions working directly with the public in a child/community care or adjacent setting
  • Health Clearance for positions working directly with the public in a child/community care or adjacent setting or with “at risk” populations
  • MVR / DMV clearance for positions where driving is required
  • Child Development Permit for positions working in an educational capacity
  • CPR / Pediatric CPR certification for certain positions working directly with the public in a child/community care or adjacent setting
  • Federal Debarment Checks for positions acting in a principal capacity to federal funds
  • Credit & Bankruptcy Check for positions with fiscal responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media or a related field

Pay

Expected Hourly Pay Rate: $33.00

Schedule

Full-Time, Hybrid. Monday–Friday standard working hours.

CCRC provides child development and early education, workforce development opportunities, child care financial assistance, Head Start preschool and Early Head Start services for close to 50,000 parents, children, and child care providers each month in Northern Los Angeles County, including Antelope Valley, and the entirety of San Bernardino County, covering a total geographic area of 22,500 square miles.
