Responsibilities
- Responsible for the accurate and timely distribution and documentation of medication for residents in accordance with each resident’s physician’s orders and applicable regulations.
- Aid with activities of daily living including assisting with bathing, showering, shampooing, dressing, oral hygiene, shaving, hair and fingernail care if needed.
- Observe, supervise, and record resident self-administration of prescribed medications and report refusals and/or reactions to supervisor on duty.
- Direct residents and family members to appropriate staff for other needs or information.
- Order meal trays for residents when needed and report and record observations of changes in residents’ condition to director or supervisor in the daily logbook.
- Implement personal care plans for each resident and provide assistance in dining room as needed.
- Administer medication as directed by supervisor and answer emergency calls promptly and courteously, completing required paperwork afterward.
- Retrieve soiled linen and personal clothing from resident living areas, sort and pre-soak linens as required before processing through washing machines.
- Be responsible for general upkeep and cleanliness of a resident’s room, including emptying waste baskets, wiping up spills, washing dishes, putting away clothes, checking refrigerator for spoiled food, and making beds, changing linens.
- Check for unsecured throw rugs and extension cords and observe condition of room/apartment to report anything in need of repair to maintenance.
- Document clearly and objectively on residents in logbook and on other documents.
- Participate in in-service educational programs as required by the community and state.
Requirements
- Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination required with exceptions for medical and religious accommodations.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, agitated residents.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
