We are looking for Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs) to join our team at Morningside House of Towamencin, a leading personal care and memory care community in Lansdale, PA.
About the role
Administer oral and topical medications to residents. Perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. Also perform routine daily tasks required in maintaining the health, comfort, and well-being of the residents.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with community policy.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the “five rights” of medication administration.
- Administer and record all medication given to residents based upon their specific chart.
- Take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications.
- Record the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information as needed.
- Observe and report any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse immediately.
- Administer PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
- Ensure antiseptic techniques and good hand washing practices for infection control, as well as utilizing universal precautions.
- Report and, when appropriate, record any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents.
- Submit incident/accident reports to supervisor or Administrator within twenty-four (24) hours after their occurrence.
- Communicate with medical staff, nursing service, and other department supervisors.
- Supervise care staff in absence of nurses.
- Maintain, clean, and organize the Medication Room.
- Maintain a liaison with other department supervisors to adequately plan for resident activities.
- Attend all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- Maintain resident confidentiality, staff confidentiality; treat staff and residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Comply with Resident’s Rights rules.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Medication Technician certification required.
