About the role
The role involves assisting providers during patient examinations, preparing exam rooms, and performing various clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters
- Assists LIP as requested
- Directs patients to examination rooms
- Assists in preparing patients for examination
- Assists patients in undressing, dressing, and getting on/off examination tables
- Notifies provider of patient's arrival and readiness for examination
- Aids providers with patient examinations
- Reviews charts prior to patients' scheduled appointment
- Records medical history, current medications, treatments, and problem list accurately
- Obtains and records patient vital signs, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
- Notifies provider of reason for visit
- Aids with patient equipment downloads
- Accurately documents and prints appropriate reports for LIP review
- Aids with medication reconciliation process
- Accurately and efficiently performs all clerical duties as needed
- Registers patients, answers phones, schedules appointments, and maintains medical records
- Assists with equipment cleaning, disinfection, and pasteurization
- Communicates accurate patient information
- Accurately inputs data in registration, EMR, database, and scheduling systems
- Aids patients in completing paperwork and questionnaires
- Safeguards exam rooms after each patient
- Stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies, equipment, and forms
- Practices proper infection control techniques
- Cross-trains to perform Patient Reception Rep job duties as needed
- Performs other selected clinical and clerical duties as directed by a provider and manager
- May be assigned to other Capital Health Medical Group Practices as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of work experience as a medical assistant, EMT, or other direct patient care role
- AHA BLS certification

- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures
- Ability to document and maintain patient care records
- Knowledge of vital signs, medical terminology, basic computer data entry skills, and medical record management
