Mechanics
About the role
Maryland Division/HTI, a division of H&K Group, Inc., seeks a Mechanic to repair and maintain diesel and gasoline heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to OSHA, PA, and DoT regulations and H&K Safety policies
- Drive to various locations in the Western PA regions for work
- Review job orders and observe equipment to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures
- Identify and replace parts for all systems on equipment and trucks when needed
- Examine protective guards, bolts, and safety devices on equipment and make necessary adjustments
- Dismantle equipment to inspect parts for defects or remove defective parts
- Replace defective parts with new parts or repair/reproduce parts from various metals
- Assemble and test-operate machines or test-drive trucks to verify corrections and ensure compliance with manufacturers' specifications
- Overhaul gas or diesel engines
- Perform diagnostics using computers and various equipment
- Perform front-end inspections and alignments
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Clean driving record
- Customer service and teamwork skills
- Basic computer knowledge and Caterpillar software (ET & SIS)
- Ability to use mechanics hand tools, torch, and welder
- Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Physical ability to meet job requirements (standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, driving, lifting up to 75 pounds)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Relevant experience and/or training in heavy equipment field
- Experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
- CDL A
- OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications
Skills
- General computer knowledge
- Technical school or college education in heavy equipment field
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
- Knowledge of Caterpillar software (ET & SIS)
- Ability to use mechanics hand tools, torch, and welder
- Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Pay
Pay range: $18-$40 per hour, depending on skill level.
Schedule
Hours regularly exceed 40 hours a week and 8 hours a day.
